This article reviewed technology of fish fry masculinization of nile tilapia in effective, practical and profitable way. Nile tilapia is easy to spawn especially inbreeding, as a result its growth is slow or retarded. To solve the problem, it can be developed monosex culture by growing only the male fish. Male nile tilapia also have quicker growth and softer flesh than the female one. Male fish fry could be produced by using the synthetic androgen like methyl testosterone (MT) in larval feed. Studies and researches conducted in the country and abroad showed that application of methyl testosterone hormone in larval feed for masculinization of nile tilapia produced fry which is 90-96% male. Research result and study of North Sulawesi Assesment Institute for Agricultural Technology showed that peaceful and optimal dose is 15 mg MT/kg of flour pellet. The hormone was applied at seeding stage for 1 months of duration. Furthermore, economic analysis showed that the masculinization technology is feasible with NPV Rp19.971.500/13 fishes/year; B/C ratio 2,60; payback period after 13 female fish spawning and BEP Rp2.370.887/13 fishes/year. The conventional technology only has NPV Rp16.840.000/14 fishes/year; B/C ratio 2,50; payback period after 14 female fish spawning and BEP Rp2.134.322/14 fishes/year.
